In traditional Jyotish, each house is read individually: first house for personality, second for wealth, third for courage. This approach is useful but conceals the deeper architecture of the chart.
The DammruVani method groups all 12 houses into four life-purpose quadrants. This grouping reveals which domains your karma is structurally built to support, and where it has built-in friction.
The Four Quadrants
| Quadrant | Houses | Element | Life Domain | Positive Polarity Means | Negative Polarity Means |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| धर्म / Dharma | 1, 5, 9 | अग्नि / Agni | Purpose, soul direction, spirituality | Clear life mission; natural spiritual inclination | Purposelessness; lifelong searching |
| अर्थ / Artha | 2, 6, 10 | पृथ्वी / Prithvi | Wealth, work, material status | Financial flow; effort yields results | Material struggle is structurally built into the karma |
| काम / Kama | 3, 7, 11 | वायु / Vayu | Desire, relationships, network, aspiration | Natural magnetism; supportive alliances | Relationships consistently bring friction |
| मोक्ष / Moksha | 4, 8, 12 | जल / Jal | Liberation, inner life, transcendence | Spiritual liberation accessible; deep inner life | Karmic heaviness; inner life feels burdened |
How to Read the Balance Sheet
Five-Step Diagnostic
- Pull the Navtara polarity of every planet from your Phase 2 table.
- Write each planet in its house. Note its polarity (+/-) above it.
- Count planets per quadrant: how many + and how many - in each?
- The quadrant with most positive planets is your natural strength.
- The quadrant that is empty or all-negative is where karma resists.
Special Diagnostic Rules
| Condition | Diagnosis | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Artha quadrant empty or all-negative | Financial struggle is structurally built into the karma | Find any Sampat planet; apply Upaay; pursue wealth via indirect routes |
| Ketu in Moksha quadrant with positive Navtara | Spiritual liberation is accessible in this lifetime | Make spiritual practice central to life; it will yield unusual fruit |
| All negative planets in Kama quadrant | Every relationship and network connection will bring friction | Reduce relationship expectations; apply remedies; structure independent work |
| Sampat-positioned planet anywhere, even with empty Artha | That planet is an alternate wealth channel | Work in that planet's signification domain; it is the path to prosperity |
| Positive planets in Dharma quadrant | Life purpose is clear and flows naturally | Align life decisions with purpose; this is the chart's greatest asset |
The Lagna's Special Placement
Why is the Lagna Placed in the Kama Quadrant?
In Rashi Grouping analysis, the Lagna point is specifically placed into the Kama quadrant (houses 3, 7, 11). This is because the Lagna is the mask through which the individual engages with the world in the domain of desire and relationship. The Lagna's Navtara polarity determines whether this engagement is naturally supported or obstructed.
