The DammruVani
Method of Analysis
A seven-phase analytical framework drawn from Vedic Jyotish and Vastu Shastra. Structured, reproducible, and rooted in the Navtara system. The polarity map that makes every reading precise.
Why This is Different
Standard Jyotish applies some of these tools. DammruVani applies all of them, in sequence, with a fixed polarity filter, so every answer is derived, not intuited.
Nakshatra applied to Moon only
Most practitioners use Nakshatras only for the Moon's position. DammruVani applies Nakshatra polarity to every planet and the Lagna degree, giving each a permanent positive or negative charge specific to this individual.
Houses interpreted in isolation
In standard analysis, houses are read individually. DammruVani groups them into four life-purpose quadrants (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha) to reveal which domains of life the karma is actually built to support.
Timing left to judgment
Transit timing is typically approximate. DammruVani calculates exact activation windows using known planetary speeds, predicting events in days, not vague windows. Gochar becomes a precision instrument, not a guess.
Data Collection and Chart Preparation
Establish the exact cosmic configuration at the moment of first breath. No step in DammruVani can be accurate without precise input. Even a 30-minute error in birth time shifts the Lagna and Nakshatra, invalidating all subsequent analysis.
Required Inputs
- Exact date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY)
- Time of birth in HH:MM. Hospital records preferred. Rounding to nearest hour causes material error.
- City, State, Country of birth for precise latitude and longitude for Lagna calculation.
What Gets Recorded Per Planet
- Which Bhava (house 1–12) the planet occupies
- Which Rashi (zodiac sign 1–12) it is placed in
- Exact degree and minute (e.g., 20°43'). Precision here determines Nakshatra assignment in Phase 2.
- This is repeated for all 9 Grahas plus the Lagna point itself.
Output of Phase 1
A complete planet position table with 10 rows (9 Grahas + Lagna), each with Bhava, Rashi, and exact degree. This table is the raw material that all subsequent phases will read through.
Nakshatra Mapping: The Core Innovation
Most practitioners apply Nakshatras only to the Moon. DammruVani applies it to every Graha and the Lagna degree itself, assigning each a permanent polarity number. This is the fundamental divergence from standard Jyotish.
Step 1: Janma Nakshatra (Moon's Star)
- Note Moon's exact degree in its Rashi
- Identify which of the 27 Nakshatras covers that degree
- Mark its lord, this becomes Navtara position 1
- This single step sets the entire polarity sequence for this chart
Step 2: Map Every Planet to Its Nakshatra
- Repeat the Nakshatra lookup for every planet and the Lagna degree
- The Lagna point has a degree and therefore a Nakshatra lord, ignored by 99% of practitioners
- Count forward from Janma Nakshatra using fixed Vimshothari order (Ketu, Shukra, Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Rahu, Guru, Shani, Budh)
- Assign each planet its Navtara number 1–9 and its polarity
Output of Phase 2: The Master Polarity Map
A complete Navtara table with 10 rows showing Navtara number and polarity for each planet and the Lagna. This table is consulted in every single subsequent phase. Everything reads through it.
| Planet | Bhava | Nakshatra Lord | Navtara # | Polarity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lagna | Rising sign | Lord of Lagna Nakshatra | Counted from Moon | + or - |
| Chandra (Moon) | Per chart | Janma Nakshatra lord | 1 (Janma) | Neutral baseline |
| Each of 9 Grahas | Per chart | Respective Nakshatra lord | Counted from Moon | + blessing or - obstacle |
Rashi Grouping: The Four-Axis Framework
All planets (with their Navtara polarities) are sorted into four life-purpose quadrants. This reveals the karmic architecture, which domain is structurally built to flow, and which is built to generate friction.
How to Sort
- Houses 1, 5, 9 → Dharma / Agni quadrant. Sort planets by degree ascending.
- Houses 2, 6, 10 → Artha / Prithvi quadrant. Sort by degree.
- Houses 3, 7, 11 → Kama / Vayu quadrant. Include Lagna.
- Houses 4, 8, 12 → Moksha / Jal quadrant. Sort by degree.
- Above each planet, write its Navtara polarity from Phase 2.
Key Diagnostic Rules
- Artha (2,6,10) empty or all-negative: financial challenges are structurally built into the karma
- Dharma (1,5,9) with positive planets: strong life purpose, spiritual alignment flows
- Kama (3,7,11) dominated by negatives: relationships and desires bring friction
- Moksha (4,8,12) with Ketu plus positive support: liberation accessible in this lifetime
- Sampat exception: a Sampat-positioned planet anywhere can deliver wealth through its own significations, even if Artha houses are empty
Output of Phase 3
A four-column balance sheet showing which life domains are supported (planets with + polarity) and which carry karmic debt (planets with - polarity). The distribution tells the story before a single interpretation is made.
Lagna Analysis: The Ascendant as a Graha
In DammruVani, the Lagna degree is treated as a planet in its own right. Its Nakshatra and Navtara number determine the structural ease or difficulty of the person's entire life. The single most important data point in the chart.
Lagna Navtara Conditions
- Ati-Maitri (9): Life flows with unusual ease. The universe cooperates. Efforts yield magnified results. Structurally the most auspicious Lagna.
- Sampat (2): Material prosperity comes naturally. Wealth is a blessed channel in this lifetime.
- Sadhak (6): Spiritual practice is essential. Accomplishment comes through disciplined devotional effort.
- Maitri (8): People arrive to help naturally. Allies and support come without asking.
- Vadh (7): Most difficult. An invisible force blocks and creates structural obstacles across almost every endeavour. Extra remedial effort required.
Special Case: Rahu-Lagna Link
- When Rahu is the Vadh Nakshatra lord AND the Lagna falls in Rahu's Nakshatra, Rahu becomes exceptionally powerful in the chart
- Ancestral karmic debts, especially from the paternal lineage, are the probable source of the structural difficulty
- Remedies must address Rahu and ancestral patterns specifically
- This combination requires specific Upaay that are not generically applicable, hence the need for a personalised consultation
Output of Phase 4
A single, decisive statement: Lagna at [degree] in [Nakshatra] = Navtara [#] ([name]) = [polarity]. This one line colours every other interpretation in the chart. The practitioner keeps it in view for all remaining phases.
Dasha Analysis: Timing the Karma
The Vimshothari Dasha system divides life into planetary periods. DammruVani uses the Navtara polarity from Phase 2 as the primary filter, determining whether the running period is fundamentally positive or negative for this person.
The Dasha Polarity Rule
- If the Mahadasha lord's Navtara is 3, 5, or 7 → the major period is a difficult one
- If the Mahadasha lord's Navtara is 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, or 9 → the major period is supportive
- The same rule applies fractally: Antardasha, Pratyantardasha, and beyond all follow identical logic
- The fractal rule means the same polarity law governs every time scale, from 15-year periods down to days
Strategy within a Difficult Mahadasha
- A 15-year difficult Mahadasha still contains multiple 1–3 year Antardashas
- Identify which Antardasha lords have Navtara 2, 4, 6, 8, or 9
- Those sub-windows are when to act, invest, and push forward
- Do not wait for the Mahadasha to end. Mine the positive sub-periods within it.
Output of Phase 5
Current period polarity statement with strategic recommendation: Mahadasha lord and its polarity, Antardasha lord and its polarity, followed by a clear directive. Push aggressively, proceed cautiously, or wait for the next positive sub-window.
Gochar: Transit Analysis with Precision Timing
Gochar superimposes today's sky onto the natal chart. In DammruVani, known planetary speeds make it possible to predict the exact number of days until an event activates, converting astrology from a vague art into a precision instrument.
Planetary Speed Reference
- Guru (Jupiter): 1° per 12 days. A 7° gap = 84 days to activation.
- Shani (Saturn): 1° per 30 days. A 5° gap = 150 days to activation.
- Rahu / Ketu: 1° per 18 days (retrograde). A 4° gap = 72 days.
- Shukra (Venus): 1° per day. Used for weekly financial and relationship timing windows.
Key Activation Rules
- When a transiting planet is within ~1° of a natal planet it is actively triggering that natal planet's energy
- The effect depends on the polarity of BOTH the transiting and natal planet
- Guru transiting toward natal Mangal (Maitri Nakshatra) = property and land matters resolve
- Shukra in your Vadh Nakshatra = avoid all major financial and relationship decisions for 8–10 days
- Rahu transiting toward natal Rahu in Vadh = hidden illness; tests inconclusive; medical matters unclear
Output of Phase 6
A timing table listing every approaching activation in the next 30 to 180 days, how many days until each one, and whether it is positive or negative based on the polarity of both planets involved. This table answers: what is about to happen, and when exactly?
Synthesis: Reading the Complete Picture
All six phases are now complete. Phase 7 is where analysis becomes guidance. The practitioner synthesises across all layers to produce a unified reading that answers the querent's specific question with precision, timing, and actionable Upaay.
Synthesis Sequence
- 1. State structural condition from Lagna Navtara (Phase 4)
- 2. State mind and personality baseline from Janma Nakshatra (Phase 2)
- 3. Identify planet assets and liabilities from the Navtara table (Phase 2)
- 4. State which life domains are supported from the Rashi quadrant balance (Phase 3)
- 5. Assess current period quality from Dasha polarity and sub-period windows (Phase 5)
- 6. State upcoming activations with exact timing from the Gochar table (Phase 6)
- 7. Answer the querent's specific question using the above
- 8. Prescribe Upaay specific to this chart, not generic
How Questions Get Answered
- When will property matters resolve? Track Guru's transit toward natal Mangal. Days = degree gap × 12.
- Why does work always get blocked? Check if Lagna is in Vadh Nakshatra; check if Rahu is the Vadh lord.
- What profession suits this person? Highest-polarity planet in the Artha quadrant and its significations.
- Is this a good time to start a business? Three-check rule: Dasha polarity + Antardasha polarity + Gochar of fast planets. All three positive: proceed. Mixed: be cautious. All three negative: wait.
The Deliverable
Every DammruVani Private Consulting session ends with a written PDF report structured on this synthesis sequence. Findings, timing windows, and actionable Upaay you can apply immediately. Not verbal guidance that fades. A document you keep.
The Four Life Quadrants
Every planet in the chart belongs to one of four life-purpose groups. This grouping reveals which domains your karma is structured to support, and where it has built-in friction. Understanding this distribution is the first step to working with your chart, not against it.
Dharma
Life purpose, spiritual path, and soul direction. Planets here determine whether the person finds clarity of purpose easily or spends life searching. Positive planets in Dharma houses create a strong sense of mission and natural spiritual inclination.
Artha
Wealth, work, and material achievement. This quadrant determines whether financial effort yields results. If all Artha planets carry negative polarity, material struggle is structurally built into the karma. One Sampat planet anywhere can override this.
Kama
Desire, relationships, networks, and aspirations. This quadrant governs all partnerships, romantic, professional, and social. Negative polarity here means relationships consistently bring friction; positive polarity means a natural magnetism and supportive alliances.
Moksha
Liberation, inner life, dissolution, and transcendence. This quadrant governs what the soul is moving toward. Ketu with positive Navtara support in this quadrant indicates that spiritual liberation is a genuine possibility in this lifetime.
The Integration Matrix
Each phase reveals a different dimension of the same chart. These six lenses combine in Phase 7 to produce a reading that is simultaneously structural, temporal, and specific.
| Phase | What It Reveals | Key Question Answered |
|---|---|---|
| Lagna Nakshatra | Structural ease or difficulty of life. The Jeev's foundational karmic posture. | Is this person structurally blessed or burdened at the deepest level? |
| Janma Nakshatra | Mind, personality, emotional nature, and core character. The Moon's imprint. | What drives this person's inner world? What do people naturally feel from them? |
| Navtara Polarity | Which planets are permanent blessings and which are karmic debts. | Where does the universe support this person, and where does it create friction? |
| Rashi Quadrants | Which life domains are well-populated with positive planets vs empty or negative. | Is wealth, purpose, desire, or liberation supported by the chart's architecture? |
| Dasha Polarity | Whether the current time period is fundamentally positive or difficult. | Should this person push aggressively right now, or conserve and wait? |
| Gochar Activations | Specific real-time events approaching, with exact day counts. | What will happen in the next 30 to 180 days? When is the next decisive window? |
